2003
On December 13-15, 2003 there was held the 2nd International Congress - "Eniology, Eniopsychology, Healing", dedicated to the 500th anniversary of birth of the great prophet – M. Nostradamus, in his homeland, where he created his quatrains and Centuries.
France - Salon de Provence - Paris.
Michel de Notre Dame, known as Nostradamus was born on December 14, 1503 in the town of SAINT-REMY - DE - PROVENCE, in the family of baptized Jews. He went to study in Avignon, where his skills were noted by teachers. Plague that interrupted his studies, gave him the opportunity to further explore herbs and pharmacy. In 1529 he studied medicine in Montpellier, where he met up with famous people, such as Rabelais, which was attracted by the University fame.
He studied astrology, trying to understand the influence of planets on the progression of the disease and then trying to make predictions, like many of his contemporaries. But only his predictions known as "Centuries became famous due to their mystical content, which allowed making different interpretations. In 1531, Nostradamus moved to the city of Agen, where he got married for the first time, but during the epidemic he lost his wife and two children, and for his freethinking speech he received an official order to appear to the Inquisitor of Toulouse to answer. Nostradamus chose to evade the visit and go traveling. He came up with an effective remedy against the plague, and it was used everywhere thereafter where the epidemic was rampant: in Lyon, Marseille, Aix. In 1547 he married to a young widow Anne Ponsard and started living in a house named in his honor. In 10 years he had six children, the eldest of whom - Caesar – would become a consul of Salon (= mayor), historian, poet and artist. Since 1552, he would made a very original treatise. In 1555 there appeared the first series of his quatrains, and Catherine de Medici invited him to the court to predict the future of the royal children. In 1557 the edition of the Centuries was complemented by the second series of quatrains. And he also published translations of “Paraphrase of Galen" for medicine. In 1559 King Henry II died. He died exactly in the way it was described in quatrain 1-35, published four years before his death. In the same year there appeared a "very useful remedy for the plague." On October 17, 1564 the town of Salon is visited by Catherine de Medici together its own courtyard – she went to Nostradamus. It was then predicted the reign of Henry of Navarre, a nephew of the Queen and the future Henry IV. On July 2, 1566 Nostradamus was found dead beside his bed as he had predicted. His ashes were first buried in the monastery, as he wished, and now they are in the Church of St. Lawrence (Chapel of Our Lady). His work is complemented by a manuscript found in the XX century under the name of "Hieroglyphics GORAPOLLO" (interpretation of Egyptian hieroglyphics), dedicated to the Princess of Navarre. This man is first and foremost a scientist, scholar. He is like a furnace, in which there sublimated all the trends come from ancient times to explode in the famous 16th century. Along with his centurions, whose poetry was inspired by Petrarch, his works fit into eschato- -astrological literature (prediction of the end times), which allows to call him a prophet of the era when astrologers are hiding behind their science, in relation to the church experiencing a time of crisis. But the message that runs through his work is a true intellectual treasure. Jacqueline ALLMANThe Director of the House-Museum of Michel Nostradamus in Salon de Provence.
